Touched upon in our very first blog post, traditional plant tissue culture requires a completely closed off environment free of microbial presence. You may have noticed that every single one of our plant terrariums, including the Venus Flytraps, Celosia Flowers, and one miniature Oncidium orchid are all in a closed self sustaining environment, as traditional plant tissue culture calls for.
However, back in 2016, we developed and patented the first OPEN and still MAINTENANCE FREE plant: the miniature Oncidium orchid pictured above! Our patented open pot miniature Oncidium orchid was finally freed from an enclosed ecosystem due to our innovative developments in holistic design. This is easily the favorite product out of our entire lineup in our company.
The bottom layer consists of the typical gel that the plant needs to survive. This bottom layer is then protected by a thin but much tougher top layer, which you can see in the pictures above. With this design, you now get to a more intimate close up interaction with the miniature Oncidium orchid while still not having to worry about maintaining the plant. Compared to the closed design, you are not only able to view the plant better, but you can also touch and smell the plant. If you have already bought or are thinking of buying our award winning closed miniature Oncidium orchid terrarium, I would highly suggest giving our open pot orchid a try!
